Haroon Rashid (born June 19, 1976) is the Security Manager of Millennium Point in Birmingham, United Kingdom and a well known member of Birmingham's large Kashmiri Muslim Community.
Born in Pakistan, Haroon (also referred to as Harry) arrived in the UK as a child in January 1978. Haroon grew up in the Small Heath area of Birmingham. Initially he attended Marlborough Infant & Junior School before going to Small Heath Senior School.
In 1987, Haroon was sent to Pakistan to learn the culture of the Indian sub-continent. After a brief and unsuccessful 5-month stay during which he was enrolled at the Government Saigol Model High School in Saigolabad, Haroon returned to his family in the UK in March 1988. In January 1989, Haroon once again emigrated (this time with his family) to Rawalpindi, Pakistan for the purpose of seeking education and cultural identity. Haroon attended Rawalpindi International School before completing his Matriculation from Siddeeq Public School. After further education at Sir Syed Science College and Govt. Gordon College, Haroon returned to the UK in 1995.
Haroon married in July 1995 after which he began his professional career. After working in the retail industry and two stints with Combined Insurance Company of America, Haroon joined the Corps of Commissionaires in December 2004. In March 2005, Haroon appeared as a contestant in the BBC TV programme 'The Weakest Link'. In July of the same year, Haroon finally moved away from Small Heath to the South Birmingham suburb of Hall Green. Later in 2005, Haroon was promoted to the post of Security Manager of Millennium Point in Birmingham, where he was still employed as of October 2007. In January 2006 Haroon began a Foundation Degree in Leadership & Management at Coventry University. The degree is expected to be completed by mid 2008 via the KYRA Foundation Degree Programme.
Currently married with four young children, Haroon remains an active member of the Kashmir descended population of Birmingham.
